Officer Nicholas Peveri PortraitThe ‘Officer of the Month’ award recognizes the efforts of an individual with the rank of patrol officer from Division or a Special Unit, who has demonstrated exceptional dedication in the performance of his/her duties during the previous month. I am very pleased to announce that our selection for this month’s LPD ‘Officer of the Month’ is Officer Nicholas Peveri, who is assigned to the First Division. This nomination was submitted by Lieutenant Ashley Affonco, who spoke on his behalf, and additional positive comments were submitted by those in attendance.

In her written nomination, Lieutenant Affonco stated that Officer Peveri has been with the Department for just over three years, and to her knowledge, has not yet received this recognition. She noted that Officer Peveri works in East Lynn, and “is a very productive officer, who has become one of the leaders on the Night Division.” She then reported that “he is trusted by his peers, as well as his Command staff, he works as a training officer frequently, and he is able to guide new officers through any issues they may have during a call.”

Lieutenant Affonco also relayed that “Officer Peveri is thorough, and always takes any constructive criticism as a learning opportunity to do better next time, he has a positive attitude, and shares his knowledge with other officers.” She then stated that “Officer Peveri will do whatever is asked of him, and continues to be a role model for the

LPD.”

Lieutenant Affonco’s nomination also noted the following recent incidents involving Officer Peveri, stating that “it is abundantly clear that he always backs up the newer officers. ”

  • Officer Peveri responded to a Piedmont Street address on a party out of control. “Officer Peveri did a really nice job, maintaining control of the scene and de-escalating the male, who was yelling profanities as well as homophobic slurs at them
  • Officer Peveri responded to the area of Goldfish Pond on a fight. Once on scene, he was able to calm down the female victim and get the story of what happened; which led to charges being sought against her boyfriend
