Chief’s Message

Welcome and thank you for visiting the website for the City of Lynn Police Department.  I am incredibly proud of the men and women of the Lynn Police Department and the great work they do every day to make this community safe.  The dedicated members of this Department serve a diverse and dynamic community of more than 101,000 people with a long tradition of welcoming newcomers from all over the world as they seek to build a new life in this great country.

The members of the Lynn Police Department seek to build trust and legitimacy with the members of this community by providing professional police services that are rooted in the community policing philosophy.  We do this by developing partnerships, and by working collaboratively, with residents, business owners, service organizations, elected officials, and others to identify problems and develop solutions using new and innovative strategies.

We recognize that modern policing requires us to expand our role well beyond simple enforcement.  We must look for community-based solutions that provide non-enforcement alternatives such as education, neighborhood development, harm reduction and crisis response that are all part of a comprehensive approach to improving quality of life and ensuring access to justice for all.

We also understand the important role that new technologies have in helping to maximize our effectiveness, while also ensuring that we are accountable to the community.  As part of that approach, we are consistently working to provide updated information on our website and social media. With this effort we strive to promote clear communication and improved access to information and resources that are important to you.
