Search Warrant Reveals Drugs, Bomb Making Materials

bomb disposal materialsOn Monday June 3, 2024, the Lynn Police Drug Task Force executed two search warrants at 30 Franklin Street #4 and 63 Franklin Street #1. During the searches, Detectives seized approximately 8 grams of Fentanyl and 3 grams of Cocaine. Additionally, a large quantity of precursor chemicals, timing devices, and other materials that could be used in the creation of destructive devices were located.

In an abundance of caution, Lynn Police notified the State Police Bomb Squad and requested assistance with identification, assessment, and safe disposal of the materials. Bomb technicians and State Hazmat technicians from the Department of Fire Services’ Joint Hazard Incident Response Team responded to assist in this process. State Police assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s office and Crime Scene Services Section also responded to assist in evidence collection and documentation.

Bomb Squad and Hazmat personnel determined that the seized materials were dangerously volatile and posed a hazard to the public. A suitably remote location was identified where the explosive materials could be detonated. Taking the appropriate precautions to protect public safety, the materials were transported and counter charged without incident.

We want to thank our partners in the Massachusetts’s State Police, the Department of Fire Services, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and the Lynn Fire Department for their assistance in this investigation. This investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.
