The ‘Officer of the Month’ award recognizes the efforts of an individual with the rank of patrol officer from Division or a Special Unit, who has demonstrated exceptional dedication in the performance of his/her duties during the previous month. I am very pleased to announce that our selection for this month’s LPD ‘Officer of the Month’ is Officer Michael Terry, who is assigned to the Second Division.
This nomination was submitted by Lieutenant Michael O’Connell and seconded by Lieutenant David Hunter.
As noted in Lt. O’Connell’s written nomination, “Officer Terry, having been on the job for less than a year, has already asserted himself as a working cop. He is assigned to West Lynn and Downtown, and has taken on an active role in policing both sectors. Officer Terry actively looks for work while he is out on patrol, and has extensive knowledge of Chapter 90.”
Lt. Hunter added, “Officer Terry is mature, has a great work ethic and goes out there and gives it his all.”
Lt. Mark Duran agreed with Lt. Hunter’s sentiments and further noted his role in assisting with training at the academy. He commented, “Officer Terry was very active during the academy and would often volunteer and sign-up for role plays to assist in practical training exercises.”
Lt. O’Connell concluded by saying, “In August, Officer Terry made 16 arrests and wrote 36 citations. As supervisors, we already see him as a go to guy when you have a problem area.”
Congratulations and thank you to Officer Terry for a job well done!
