March 2025 Officer Bryan Fresco

Officer Bryan Fresco PortraitThe ‘Officer of the Month’ award recognizes the efforts of an individual with the rank of patrol officer from Division or a Special Unit, who has demonstrated exceptional dedication in the performance of his/her duties during the previous month. I am very pleased to announce that our selection for this month’s LPD ‘Officer of the Month’ is Officer Bryan Fresco, who is assigned to the Second Division.

This nomination was submitted by Lieutenant Michael O’Connell and seconded by Lieutenant Ashley Affonco.

As noted in Lt. O’Connell’s written nomination, “Officer Fresco has a cool, unflappable demeanor. While tasked with working the MSC, he has taken to presenting himself to the homeless population in a warm, friendly, caring manner, in an effort to win their confidence. Officer Fresco uses this confidence to give direction to Behavioral Health Services, Elliot Mental Health, etc. Officer Fresco goes out each night to “make a save.”

Lt. Affonco noted, “Officer Fresco is hard-working, willing to learn and eager to receive feedback.”

Lt. O’Connell noted a recent example stating, “Officer Fresco was involved in a trespass arrest that occurred on 2/25/25, wherein officers were called for a person sleeping in the doorway of 330 Essex St. Instead of simply moving the individual along, Fresco and his partner Rosario took the time to identify the trespasser, and worked their way through the charade of the suspect providing a false name, and ultimately arrested the suspect for no fewer than four warrants. Additionally, at booking a quantity of fentanyl and cocaine was discovered, allowing her to be charged as a subsequent offender.”

Lt. O’Connell further added, “When we have assignments that are necessary to the smooth running of the Division, be it clearing out problematic crowds, or conducting walk throughs of problem areas, we will often look to Officer Fresco to carry them out, since we have confidence that he will be able to complete these tasks without the need to be overly supervised. Officer Fresco frequently meets with his Sergeants to bounce ideas off them to improve as an officer. He takes extraordinary pride in being able to do the right thing in the right moment for his community.”

Congratulations and thank you to Officer Fresco for a job well done!
