The ‘Officer of the Month’ award recognizes the efforts of an individual with the rank of patrol officer from Division or a Special Unit, who has demonstrated exceptional dedication in the performance of his/her duties during the previous month. I am very pleased to announce that our selection for this month’s LPD ‘Officer of the Month’ is Officer Christopher DiPietro, who is assigned to the Third Division. This nomination was submitted by the Lieutenant Rob Avery and the Third Division Command staff.
As noted in the written nomination, “Officer DiPietro has become a valuable asset for the Third Division in some of the many roles he takes in the department. While transitioning the signal room Officer DiPietro volunteered to work the front desk all four days so that there would be continuity between the front desk and the booking area.” It was further noted, “He utilized his experience as one of the court commitment officers and routinely goes above and beyond the scope of what the FDO does on a daily basis. He handles numerous reports so as not to tie up cars on the street, but he also made it clear that he has no problem being on the street and enjoys working the downtown area. He takes it upon himself to complete court paperwork for division, even when he is not operating in that capacity, significantly reducing the workload for both patrol and court officers.” Lt. Avery also emphasized, “Officer DiPietro takes his role as the Third Division steward very seriously. He regularly reviews staffing across all divisions to identify and address potential shortages, helping to prevent staffing imbalances, thus alleviating inverses.” Lt. Avery concluded by noting, “Officer Christopher DiPietro is not only a deserving recipient of this month’s Officer of the Month award but also an officer who exemplifies dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the department.”
Congratulations and thank you to Officer DiPietro for a job well done!
