The ‘Officer of the Month’ award recognizes the efforts of an individual with the rank of patrol officer from Division or a Special Unit, who has demonstrated exceptional dedication in the performance of his/her duties during the previous month. I am very pleased to announce that our selection for this month’s LPD ‘Officer of the Month’ is Officer David Barnard, who is assigned to the First Division.
This nomination was submitted by Lieutenant Kenneth Runyan and seconded by Captain David Brown.
As noted in Lt. Runyan’s written nomination, “Officer Barnard has fully embraced the job. He is frequently in a one-man car and is proactive on any route he is assigned. He made over 20 motor vehicle stops in addition to responding to over 100 calls for service this past month, some of which resulted in arrests and criminal complaints being filed.”
Captain Brown noted, “Officer Barnard also responded to a triple stabbing near the MSC last fall. He was instrumental in providing emergency care to one of the stabbing victims, who was initially uncooperative but then started to lose consciousness due to blood loss. He handles himself well for being on the job for a relatively short time.”
Lt. Runyan also added, “He is willing to assist in anything needed and has never voiced any complaints about assignments. Officer Barnard is a reliable officer for First Division who does his job well.”
Congratulations and thank you to Officer Barnard for a job well done!
