This nomination was submitted by Captain Christopher Kelly, who spoke on his behalf

In his written nomination, Captain Kelly stated that “Officer Bona who is currently assigned to the First Division, is extremely proactive as well as handling his dispatched calls thoroughly and efficiently. Officer Bona writes an excellent police report documenting all of the necessary facts. He has made numerous arrests over the previous month, written several citations and has a strong work ethic.”

Captain Kelly relayed on January 13, 2024 “Officer Bona was on proactive patrol in the area of Boston Street. He observed a male party, walking on the street. Officer Bona had knowledge of two outstanding warrants for this individual. The male party fled on foot and Officer Bona and other officers were able to place him into custody for the warrants.

During the arrest, several items were seized as evidence from other crimes he had committed. This proactive arrest was due to his knowledge of impact persons committing crimes in the City. It is believed that the male party has committed numerous B&E to motor vehicles in the area of Flax Pond.

This type of arrest has a direct impact on preventing further crimes and limiting potential victims. Officer Bona has made several other impactful arrests and continues to be a very productive officer and a great example for other officers, and is worthy of being selected as Officer of the Month.”
