The ‘Officer of the Month’ award recognizes the efforts of an individual with the rank of patrol officer from Division or a Special Unit, who has demonstrated exceptional dedication in the performance of his/her duties during the previous month. I am very pleased to announce that our selection for this month’s LPD ‘Officer of the Month’ is Officer Daither Guzman, who is assigned to the Third Division.
This nomination was submitted by Captain Michael Kmiec and seconded by Lieutenant Rob Avery. As noted in Captain Kmiec’s written nomination, “Officer Daither Guzman joined the department in 2023 and has always carried himself with a professional demeanor. He works in the downtown area and is regularly called upon to perform various tasks in addition to the high call volume that accompanies the route. Officer Guzman regularly accepts these tasks, including language translation, without complaint and gives them the proper attention.” He further noted, “An example of this is when the court recently called over to have an officer sit in on late notice witness interviews and Officer Guzman was assigned the call. He handled these incidents as he does all his calls and asked pertinent questions before responding.” He also added, “Lieutenant David Hunter recently commented that when handling traffic hearings, he was very impressed with the thoroughness of Officer Guzman’s reports which make the hearings much easier to handle.” Captain Kmiec concluded by saying, “Officer Guzman is a conscientious worker who consistently writes excellent reports and has a great work ethic. He’s been involved in several arrests over the past month and for more any other reasons should be recognized as Officer of the Month.”
Congratulations and thank you to Officer Guzman for a job well done!
