Chief’s Message

Chief Christopher Reddy

Chief Christopher P. Reddy was promoted on May 20, 2021, and became the new Chief of the department. Chief Reddy began his career in 1985 and earned his first promotion to Sergeant in 1992. He worked in the Patrol Division until he was appointed as the first supervisor of the newly created Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Unit. He continued in that assignment when he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 1996. As a Lieutenant, he worked as the OIC of the Anti-Crime Team and the Community Policing Units. Reddy was later assigned as the Officer in Charge of the Intelligence Unit and then returned to the Patrol Division as the Executive Officer on the First Division. He became a Captain in 2009 and was assigned to Administrative Division. In 2010, he became the Captain of the Patrol Division where he was responsible for all patrol operations, the Traffic Unit, the CBD Unit and served as the liaison to the City of Lynn Emergency Management Committee.

Chief Reddy is a lifelong resident of Lynn. He graduated from University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 1986 with a B.S. in Business Administration – Management. Chief Reddy earned a master’s degree in criminal justice from Anna Maria College in 1989. He has completed certificate programs in Executive Leadership sponsored by the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (LEEDA) and Police Leadership from Northeastern University. Chief Reddy is a member of the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association, the International Association of the Chiefs of Police, the Massachusetts Major City Chiefs of Police and the Essex County Chiefs of Police.
